SafeNet Trusted Access for PagerDuty

Overview

Configuring SafeNet Trusted Access for PagerDuty is a three-step process:

1.PagerDuty setup

2.SafeNet Trusted Access setup

3.Verify authentication

PagerDuty Setup

As a prerequisite, download the Identity Provider signing certificate from the SafeNet Trusted Access console by clicking the Download X.509 certificate button. You will need this certificate in one of the steps below.

Perform the following steps to configure SafeNet Trusted Access as your Identity Provider in PagerDuty:

1.Log in to PagerDuty as an administrator and click Configuration > Account Settings.

2.At the top right-hand corner of the screen, click Single Sign-on.

3.On the Enable Single Sign-on (SSO) window, select SAML and perform the following steps:

a.Open the Identity Provider signing certificate that you download earlier from the SafeNet Trusted Access console in a text editor, and copy the entire text of the file (including the ----BEGIN CERTIFICATE--- and ---END CERTIFICATE---- lines).

b.In the X.509 Certificate field, paste the text that you copied in the previous step.

c.In the Login URL field, enter the SingleSignOnService URL that is provided on the SafeNet Trusted Access console.

You can copy this URL by clicking on the Copy to Clipboard icon available next to the SingleSignOnService field.

d.Click Save Changes.

e.Copy the URL from the SAML Metadata URL field. You will need this URL to obtain the PagerDuty metadata.

Obtain Metadata

Perform the following steps to download the PagerDuty metadata:

1.In web browser, open the SAML Metadata URL that you copied earlier in step 3(e) of PagerDuty Setup.

2.The PagerDuty metadata will be displayed. Copy and paste the metadata in notepad and save it as a .xml file on your local machine.

SafeNet Trusted Access Setup

After completing the first step of configuring SafeNet Trusted Access in PagerDuty, the second step is to activate the PagerDuty application in SafeNet Trusted Access by performing the following steps:

1.In the Applications pane, you will notice that the PagerDuty application that you added previously is currently in inactive state by default. To configure and activate this application, click the application (for example, PagerDuty) and proceed to the next step.

2.Under STA Setup, click Upload PagerDuty Metadata.

3.On the Metadata upload window, click Browse to search and select the PagerDuty metadata that you downloaded earlier in the Obtain Metadata section.

Under Account Details, in the fields, the service provider’s metadata information is displayed.

 

4.Click Save Configuration to save the details and activate the PagerDuty application in SafeNet Trusted Access.

Verify Authentication

Using STA Console

Navigate to PagerDuty SSO login URL, https://<Your Domain Name>.pagerduty.com/sso/saml/sign-in (for example, https://example123.pagerduty.com/sso/saml/sign-in). You will be redirected to the SafeNet Trusted Access sign-in page. Enter your primary directory login information, approve the two-factor authentication, and you should be redirected to the PagerDuty user portal after authentication.

Using STA User Portal

Navigate to the User Portal URL to log in to the STA User Portal dashboard. On the dashboard, you will see a list of applications to which you have access. Click on the PagerDuty application icon, you should be redirected to the PagerDuty user portal after authentication.
